DevBlitz is Here!
Andrew Troelsen — Intertech Partner and Instructor

Hey, Andrew here!

In this month’s newsletter, there’s coverage of Google Gears, Google’s new API for creating offline applications, a listing of the hot job markets for tech workers, and thoughts on managing Generation Y workers. In the schedule section, we’ve added some new classes to our .NET, Java, and XML line-up:

For those of you on the Microsoft side of the world, you’ve probably learned that PDC, originally scheduled for October, has been cancelled. As one of America’s leading training organizations, we’ve stepped up and are offering DevBlitz (www.DevBlitz.com) — a 12-hour, hands-on, .NET 3.5 with Visual Studio 2007 event. The date is September 20, 2007 and the location is the Minneapolis Convention Center. If you register before July 30th, you’ll receive an early bird discount of $250. Register early, we expect the event to sell out.

Last month, Jim White, a fellow instructor who’s on the Java side of the fence, had some Java resources and insights.  As a “parting .NET gift”, I want to share a few of my favorite FREE .NET resources:

  • www.sharpdevelop.com.  While Visual Studio is the tool for enterprise development, SharpDevelop, an open source .NET IDE, gives home users and enthusiasts a free IDE option.
  • www.aisto.com/roeder/dotnet.  Reflector is a free (high powered) object browser and decompiler.
  • www.vstsmn.net.  If you’re in Minneapolis/St. Paul and use Microsoft Team Edition, this is the user group for you—founded by Intertech and supported by Microsoft, VSTS MN offers free monthly educational sessions on the many flavors of Microsoft Visual Studio Team Edition.

Have an awesome summer,

Andrew Troelsen

Intertech Instructor, Partner, and .NET author

Each month you will find a new question and common request section that relates to YOU!!  We understand the technology.  What we want to know better is, what more we can do to keep you and your organization competitive.

This month's question:

What are your thoughts on a ½ day follow-up webinar for Intertech Classes? What topics would you like to see covered (tips and tricks, advanced content, etc.)?
