Welcome to The Software Developer

Andrew Troelson

Hi. I’m Andrew Troelsen, an instructor at Intertech and this month’s editor. Welcome to the latest issue of The Software Developer.

Are you ready for the upcoming revolution in the mobile applications world? As the popularity of wireless networks has grown, Web service development tools for enterprise network groups to tie together mobile clients with back-end applications and data have begun to appear. One of these is Microsoft’s Indigo, the beta release of which is scheduled for later this summer. To find out more about mobile applications and Indigo, be sure to read this month’s feature.

In Coder's Corner, I discuss .NET 2.0 Data Provider Factory and how you can build a single code base using generalized types. And don’t forget to check out our Best of the Web section. In it, you’ll find several articles on improving your personal life and professional status.

If you have a suggestion for a feature article — or if there are any programming tips you’d like for us to provide — please let us know. All comments are greatly appreciated.
