Extreme Makeover: Copy Edition

Smacking Ugly Copy

Extreme Makeover: Copy Edition

Meryl K. Evans, Editor, eNJ

We want to track down the offenders and bring them to justice.  Police the web and bring bad copy in for a trial judged by a jury of your peers.

Stamp out Ugly Copy

Take the Extreme Makeover Challenge!

Participate in our Extreme Copy Makeover.  Send us examples of bad copy.  The copy can be from a Web site, e-mail newsletter, or marketing material like direct mailers or postcards. We will post the worst of the worst and ask for your judgment how you would rehabilitate the offenders.  Of course, we add our our two cents from the bench.

To kick it off this series, see the copy below.  There is one instruction given four different ways.  Read each line by itself. Which ones make sense? Which ones don't? Any suggestions for making it better?  Do our own instructions make sense?

When ready, vote or submit ugly copy you've uncovered.  You can do both.
